During the COVID-19 pandemic we have reimagined new and inclusive ways to connect with our students, audiences, and fellow artists, including virtual classes, workshops, events, and exciting video productions. We always strive to promote the pure joy of Brazilian dance and music, and we can't wait to share it with you!
Connect with health, culture, and self-care through traditional Afro-Brazilian movement.
Health is our greatest wealth! Learn the basics of Brazilian Orixa dance in the comfort of your own home with master teacher Dora Oliveira! These accessible classes are made possible by the COVID Community Healing Grant from Seattle Parks Department. We invite people of all levels and abilities to enjoy the strength, energy, and relaxation that comes from dance.
Each week our community will focus on a different flavor of healing energy, embodied in the rhythm & movements of one Orixa (divine embodiment of an element of nature). Enjoy the class on its own, or go deeper with journal prompts, readings, and links to help you understand and work with the energy and themes of the class.
Classes and learning materials will be sent via email on Saturday November 7, 14, and 21.

Perhaps one of the most popular dances in the world, samba is a lively and beautiful dance of Afro-Brazilian origin.
Used in religious ceremonies, traditional Orixá dance relies on drums and song as its core elements.
If you’re more inclined to playing music, drumming classes are also available.
